Setting up social media accounts is an easy way to reach a target audience for a low price. It only takes a few minutes to sign up for a Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn account – but maintaining it is another story. To make the most of all of your business social media accounts, be sure you are using these helpful tools:

Facebook

  • Call to Action button. Recently Facebook added this feature to business and organization pages. You can choose from options like “shop now” and “watch a video” that encourages visitors of your page to take an extra step to learn more about what you have to offer. So far this option is free, so be sure to enact it.
  • The “about” section. In a rush to publish your page, you may not have completely filled out this handy portion. People who are interested in learning more about you from your Facebook profile know to click on this section. If it is missing any key components, like your web address or contact info, those customers may go somewhere else. Give them everything they need to know about your business right in front of them.

Twitter

  • Quoting tweets. Instead of simply retweeting something, choose the “quote tweet” option. This allow you to add a short opinion of your own at the beginning of the tweet. In the past, it would just add text right before the retweet. Now Twitter actually separates your text from the retweet, displaying the original text and linking in a clickable image format below your words.
  • Hashtags. If you want strangers who do not follow you to find your tweets, add in a few hashtags. Take advantage of anything trending that has to do with your business to find the largest audience. Not sure what hashtags you should assign? Head to hashtag.org to see universal lists.

Instagram

  • Add your link to your profile. There is no way to hyperlink within individual posts, but you can add a link to your business in your basic account settings. People who visit your account will be able to click right to the URL you list.
  • Hashtags. Like Twitter, hashtags on Instagram are a smart way to reach out to people with interests that align with your business. Consider using broad and specific hashtags in the same post. For example, if you sell a nutrition product that is locally created in Orlando, add these: #nutrition #health #Orlando #locallygrown. You can add up to 30 hashtags! So take advantage of this easy social marketing tool.

Pinterest

  • Group boards. Expand the reach of your Pinterest content by joining group boards in your industry or niche. This ensures that you have a larger following and exposure to what you want to show.
  • Use price tags. View your individual pins as product images. Let your followers know exactly how much something costs and be sure you have the direct link in the pin so they can buy it.

LinkedIn

  • Join groups. There is a debate as to whether businesses need both Pinterest and LinkedIn but there are certainly virtues to each. Get involved with LinkedIn groups that make sense for your business. This is a great way to create awareness around your brand and to also get tips from others in your industry.
  • Share articles. The great thing about LinkedIn is that when you publish articles to it, they stay in a separate section. Your links and text can get lost on other social networks over time, but your articles remain in one section – sort of like a portfolio for people to look over when they arrive at your profile.
